True Vine Singers

Our Story

Led by an extraordinary 14 year old, The True Vine Singers were formed in early 2026 by Terrion Stewart at just 14 years old. Terrion, an associate minister at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas, has also served as a background vocalist for several Kansas City gospel groups. Inspired by his passion for ministry and music, he envisioned creating a group dedicated to serving God and sharing His message through song.
To bring that vision to life, he assembled a talented group of trusted singers:

* Brenda Kirkwood (Top) — known for her rich, powerful vocals
* Toliece “TJ” Bowens (Middle) — brings smooth, heartfelt harmonies
* “Nae” Austin (Bottom) — adds depth, versatility, and balance to the group’s sound

United by faith and a love for gospel music, The True Vine Singers strive to create music that honors God, inspires hearts, and uplifts communities through their ministry in song.

These awards shine a light on the often-unrecognized efforts of community leaders, artists, educators, and advocates whose work uplifts cultural identity, fosters unity, and drives positive change. By acknowledging these contributions, the AfroKC Legacy Awards not only validate the importance of cultural heritage and grassroots impact but also inspire future generations to continue building strong, vibrant, and inclusive communities.
