Joubel Folly Teko

Folly Teko, known to most as Joubel, is a visionary Togolese entrepreneur and creative director who has called Omaha, Nebraska, home since 2004. While his academic journey began in architecture at Bellevue University, Joubel’s career hit its stride at the intersection of branding
and Digital Visual Arts. After honing his expertise in Design Interactivity Media Arts at Bellevue University and Metropolitan Community College, he transitioned into high-impact roles as a UX/UI designer for APSKY Labs and a labels and package designer for Highline Warren. There, he managed visual assets for global giants including Walmart, Amazon, and BP.

Driven by a mission to honor his heritage, Joubel translated his design prowess into
international ventures. He founded the Sexytogolais fashion line and co-founded Makassi Energy Drink, a brand that has achieved widespread popularity across the global Africandiaspora.

Joubel’s true vocation, however, lies in cultural advocacy. What began as a leadership role with Togolese Connection has evolved into a portfolio of influential initiatives, including The African Experience and Omaha Diversity Experience (OMADEXP). In 2018, alongside Judy Kiagiri, he co-founded Afromaha and launched the inaugural African Fashion Week Week Omaha, and
Afro Fest Omaha. Today, Afromaha collaborates with global powerhouses such as Google, G-Fiber, BMO, Meta, and Allstate, as well as major academic institutions. Under his leadership, Afro Fest has scaled into a multi-state regional tour, bringing its vibrant energy
to Nashville, Kansas City, Dallas, and Minneapolis.

A self-described “lover of people,” Joubel has cultivated a loyal community inspired by his relentless positivity and dedication to African culture. Through his brilliant design work, sense of community and aspirational campaigns, he continues to enrich African iconography inspiring thousands to believe in the boundless possibilities of the continent and, ultimately, themselves
