Zeretta Young

My Story

Zeretta Young’s love affair with fashion began at the tender age of three. Mesmerized by her mother’s creative hands transforming fabric into fantastical costumes, she knew, even then, that she wanted to be a part of that world. The vibrant colors, the textures, the sheer magic of creation – it all captivated her young heart and set her on a path towards becoming a renowned fashion designer.

Early Inspirations
Growing up, Zeretta was never one to follow trends; she created them. High school was her personal runway. While other students wore off-the-rack clothing, Zeretta proudly sported her own designs. Her mother, a talented seamstress, taught her the fundamentals of sewing, and her high school home economics classes provided a structured environment to hone her skills. She experimented with different fabrics, patterns, and styles, developing a unique aesthetic that was both sophisticated and playful.

From Windows to Wearable Art
After high school, Zeretta took a leap of faith and moved to Houston, Texas. There, she landed a job as a window display person, a role that allowed her to express her creativity and visual
merchandising skills. She arranged mannequins, curated outfits, and designed eye-catching displays that drew customers into the store. In 1992, Zeretta ventured into jewelry design, transforming ordinary materials into wearable art. Her pieces were bold, unique, and reflected her love of color and texture. Each piece told a story, reflecting her experiences and inspirations.

Recognition and Travel
Zeretta talent didn’t go unnoticed. Her designs were featured in magazines, newspapers, and local
news segments. The recognition fueled her passion and opened doors to new opportunities. She
began traveling, showcasing her collections at fashion shows and trunk shows across the country.
Her travels exposed her to different cultures and artistic traditions, which further enriched her designs.

From the vibrant textiles of Mexico to the intricate beadwork of Africa, Zeretta drew inspiration fromToday, Zeretta Young is a renowned fashion designer, celebrated for her innovative designs, her commitment to quality, and her unique artistic vision.
